Description

I drew Cammy again. I think I might draw her every so often to see how much I improved, as a bit of a challenge.

I haven't drawn, literally, anything in months. I have been very busy with life things, and I haven't had time to do much sketching at all. Having found a bit of time for myself, I watched some speed-drawings by some really talented artists on YouTube. I got motivated to put pencil to paper. As a surprise to no one, I threw together a simple sketch of Cammy in my small sketchbook at work. I liked the way it was turning out so I decided to make a full drawing of her. I've learned quite a bit about anatomy from the various artists I watched (mainly Gannadene, aka Plague of Gripes) and I tried to implement what I learned.

I've always shied away from drawing girls growing up, as I don't want to objectify them. As I got older, I learned to appreciate women from an artistic standpoint. I've had troubles drawing women in a way I find attractive for a long time, but I think I have made huge improvements in recent years. I think I might draw Cammy every year or so to see how my progress is going. Here are my other two for comparison: First: fav.me/d97ftzn Second: fav.me/d9u2pfr

I employed a lot of new techniques I've just recently learned about in this drawing. Mainly new shading techniques and colored lines. I'm not too fond of my linework being colored, but I am very pleased with the overall pic. This is the first time I've drawn Cammy in her usual outfit, instead of her Final Fight: Streetwise look. I wanted to practice drawing her musculature this time around, so I thought her Classic costume would work best for me. (I decided on her Classic look over her SFV look mainly because I didn't want to draw all those belts and pouches. Maybe next time.) I did use her SFV boot design, though. You may notice that her badges and scar are on the wrong side; I was in the coloring process, and I liked the way she looked flipped better than her original pose.

I didn't want to overly sexualize the drawing, which is difficult considering the subject. I tried this by not drawing her rear, and by not putting too much detail into her other "assets".
